🇨🇦 The Talkpod A36plus Max 8W Walkie Talkie Handheld is a pretty good radio
I was pleased to find that the radio was open to transmit on the ham bands as well as GMRS. That was not clear to me from the description. The radio comes with Firmware v1.6. It is possible to update the firmware using the included USB connection cable. It is also enabled to transmit on the VHF marine frequencies, although that requires a license to use it in Canada.

The radio is quite complicated because it has a lot of options and features. The manual that used to be a small book has now been printed on a single page. I found it pretty confusing and difficult to understand, but I have only been a ham for 60 years now. Fortunately, there are lots of videos and guides as the radio is quite popular. Just watch some of them.

Technically, the signal is good and clean on the transmit frequency. There is a very strong harmonic, but I don't have the test equipment on hand to check if it is within legal limits or not. I find that a bit concerning. I hope someone will check on a spectrum analyser.

Generally a good versatile radio for $90.
