On-the-Air Across Jilin: Two Flagship Field Deployments
This year's 86th anniversary of the "May 5th" festival across Jilin focused heavily on real-world practical application. Talkpod’s support spanned two major regional operations:
1. The Changchun Provincial Base (Dading Mountain)
Organized by the Jilin Radio Association at the Changan Station base at the foot of Dading Mountain, this site brought together members and new enthusiasts for a grueling single-day operational drill. Highlights included:
Rapid Emergency Station Deployment: Teams raced against the clock to establish off-grid high-frequency (HF) camps and auxiliary power systems.
CRAC National Connectivity Event: Operators successfully linked with the Chinese Radio Amateurs Club (CRAC) national network, testing regional signal propagation and voice clarity.
Tactical SIMEX: Utilizing the temporary simplex frequency 439.750MHz, field teams conducted close-range communication coordination and equipment showcases.
2. The Jilin City Regional Hub (Huadian Mingfeng Eco-Resort)
Concurrently, the BR2JJL Repeater Group gathered a massive convoy of mobile operators at the Huadian Mingfeng Ecological Resort. Operating via local repeater frequencies (439.750MHz, -5MHz offset, 88.5Hz sub-audio), seasoned veterans conducted critical stress testing on cross-regional signal coverage, emergency antenna hoisting, and multi-node technical exchanges.
Talkpod’s Mission: Nurturing Tech Capability and Public Safety
Amateur radio remains the ultimate baseline contingency when public telecommunications go dark. Talkpod’s double-sponsorship in Jilin highlights its dedication to fostering compliant, high-performance communication cultures. During the lunch gatherings at both events, Talkpod provided premium hardware prizes for the attendee raffles, injecting excitement into the local community and placing professional-grade equipment into the hands of active operators.
"The spirit of the 'May 5th' festival is rooted in exploration, public service, and mutual support," said a Talkpod Global Communications spokesperson. "We are incredibly proud to sponsor both the Jilin Radio Association and the BR2JJL Repeater Group. Our goal is to ensure that whether hams are participating in national contests or establishing temporary tactical networks in the mud and woods, they have access to compliant, cutting-edge, and dependable hardware that expands the possibilities of modern connectivity."
