China Releases 2023 Emergency Communications Development Report

On September 26, 2024, during the 2024 International Information and Communication Technology Exhibition, the 2023 Emergency Communications Development Report was officially released. Compiled by the Emergency Communications Development Report Editorial Board, the report provides a comprehensive overview of China's achievements in emergency communications in 2023.

Key Findings of the Report
Enhanced emergency communications management: China has established a cross-departmental, multi-level, and cross-regional coordination and information sharing mechanism, and continuously improved emergency response plans.
Improved emergency communications capabilities: The country has built a preliminary air-land-sea integrated emergency communication network, established a "smart brain" for emergency communication command, and successfully held national emergency communication comprehensive drills and skill competitions. This has significantly enhanced the resilience of communication networks, intelligent command capabilities, and the practical combat capabilities of teams.
Booming development of the emergency communications industry: Technologies and products have expanded to the aerospace field, with breakthroughs in cross-domain integrated technologies such as 5G, drones, and satellite communications. The digitalization level of equipment has been significantly improved, and the standardization system and equipment testing capabilities have been accelerated. In 2023, emergency communications issued over 5.2 billion warning messages, supported 692 emergencies, and deployed 760,000 personnel, 270,000 vehicles, 200,000 generators, and 9,800 satellite phones.

Global Perspective: The report also analyzes global communication support for natural disasters, and summarizes the development and typical application cases of advanced technologies and equipment such as artificial intelligence, community broadcasting, disaster roaming, and high-altitude base stations.
