The DigiCommCafe: 90 Million "Frequencies" and the Power of Linkpoon Virtual Amateur Radio

My new favorite platform isn't even ham radio. It's POC (Push-to-talk Over Cellular). The app is called Linkpoon and it runs on most Android devices. The device in the picture is the Talkpod N58 Plus which the app was designed for. The Linkpoon Virtual Amateur app is FREE and provides 90 million "frequencies" to use. Actually each frequency is a unique channel. In addition to what you see on the screen there are 2 more digits one can add in the setup, much like the extra digits on your HF radio. Most of us hang out on the VHF calling freq. My B VFO is set to my DigiCommCafe freq which I chose based on the DTMF dial pad for 4 (UHF) 55422 (My callsign K5DCC).

I love the buffet of radio modes in this great hobby. But I also enjoy some non-license network radio platforms, too, as a gateway into ham radio for my friends and family. My favorite platform is the Linkpoon app by Talkpod.
