Talkpod PoC solution power the countryside radio communication as a larger city's P25 system
IMPLEMENTATION SUMMARY
Client: Police Station of Washington County
Location:Alabama, United States of America
Vertical Market:Public safety
Solution:Poc radios
Applications:Radio communications and Support
Project Integrator:Kendoo Technology Inc.
After years of trying to make do with 50 year old communications technology, Sheriff Stringer began his search for a communications system that worked where he worked, provided the services he needed, at a price he was willing to pay. Now he's got it. Washington County is a big county (1089 square miles) and not many people (under 17,000). We have a whole lot of need and limited financial resources. Even with three repeater stations, we still don't have good 2-way radio coverage in all areas with our VHF analog radio system. Once we leave the boundaries of our county, we have no interoperability with anyone. We looked at the highly touted P25 radio system and found it was mainly used in larger metropolitan areas and financially prohibitive for mainly rural counties such as ours.
THE SOLUTION
But that all changed when we got a letter from a guy in Birmingham telling us about a system called Talkpod. He said he could give us a portable radio can talk just about everywhere - not only in Washington County, but the entire state, and other states as well. We didn't have to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars for new infrastructure, commit to long term agreements or pay extra for a dispatch system with GPS and emergency alarm reporting that could be used on any WINDOWS based PC! Here's the truly incredible thing about the Talkpod system!
The Talkpod dispatch software tells us at a glance who is on duty and where they are. Any officer, at the press of a button can alert dispatch to an emergency situation with an audible alarm plus an instant display of their location to any PC equipped with Talkpod software. It's kind of like a Mini-911.
It even records, archives and plays back all radio conversations! And that's not all! We can still use our old VHF radio system for backup. We even have an optional device, called a PoC-VHF Gateway, which can connect our VHF dispatch radio to the Talkpod system.
BENEFITS
The project was jointly completed by Talkpod and Kendoo technology, Used the gateway, the communication system is interconnected with the old radios, increases the number of users by the durable N55G terminal and realizes the effective coverage of emergency communication network in all districts of Washington County, and realizes the interconnection between the old and the old users, thus promoting the efficient and coordinated deployment of security tasks.

Through this project, the public station not only ensures the continuous use of old equipment, avoids the waste of repeated investment, and realizes seamless interworking between Talkpod's PoC radio N55G and old radios so that the whole project can quickly complete the deployment and commissioning work in a very short time, greatly saves the expensive repeated construction and maintenance costs, and enables the local government to ensure the safety of the project in a limited budget The effective deployment of the police force can achieve the confidentiality and accurate command of security tasks, and better intelligent and efficient communication
"Here's the truly incredible thing about the Talkpod system!" -- Richard stringer, sheriff said., Talkpod Poc series terminals always work stably, realizing zero fault and reliable quality. They are still in work online from 2017, and have been appreciated and affirmed by similar small city users in the United States.
