Right out of the box, I found this to be a solid radio, but I wanted my husband to chime in. He is a HAM/radio guy and has a lot of experience with different radios. This is his take:

This radio has amazing reception ability from the “rubber duck” antenna! I also found the transmission quality is exceptional from inside the house.
