The airwaves in North Dakota were buzzing with excitement this past Saturday, July 11, 2026, as the Souris Valley Amateur Radio Club (SVARC) successfully hosted the 2026 SVARC Hamfest in conjunction with the ARRL North Dakota Section Convention. Held at the Minot City Auditorium, the event brought together amateur radio enthusiasts from across the region for a day of technical exchange, networking, and community building.

Talkpod was honored to support this significant gathering through the Talkpod Youth Amateur Program. We believe in the power of amateur radio to connect generations, and it was inspiring to see the dedication of the SVARC organizers and the vibrant participation of the local ham community.

A Day of Learning and Engagement

The event featured a packed schedule designed to engage hams of all experience levels, including:

Technical Seminars: Attendees participated in forums covering topics such as the North Dakota Net Round Table, updates from the ARRL leadership, and ARES/Winlink operational updates.

ARRL-Sponsored Testing: The event provided free testing opportunities proctored by SVARC, with an encouraging incentive for the next generation—students 18 and under who passed their exam received a handheld radio kit.

Community Spirit: From the Friday evening social at the campgrounds to the "Quick Left Foot" (QLF) CW contest following the Saturday potluck, the event fostered a strong sense of camaraderie.
