EPDT Narrowband Communication System Standards Achieve a New Milestone in Independent and Controllable Power Wireless Private Networks
On September 27, 2024, the Beijing Huatong Professional Wireless Communication Technology Innovation Alliance organized an expert review meeting for the "Draft Group Standards for EPDT Narrowband Communication Systems." Experts from the China Security and Protection Products Industry Association, the Power Industry Information Standardization Technical Committee, State Grid Fujian Electric Power Company, and the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, as well as representatives from the standard drafting group, attended the meeting.

The experts carefully reviewed the five draft group standards, including the "General Technical Requirements for EPDT Narrowband Communication Systems." The expert panel concluded that the submitted materials for the five standards were complete and that the development process complied with the relevant regulations of the State Standardization Administration and the Ministry of Civil Affairs. The expert panel affirmed the work of the standard drafting group and unanimously agreed to pass the review of the five draft group standards. At the same time, the expert panel suggested that the standard drafting group revise and improve the draft standards based on the expert opinions in order to form a draft for submission as soon as possible.

Developed under the organization and leadership of the China Electric Power Research Institute and with the active participation of PDT Alliance members, EPDT technology is based on mature professional digital trunking (PDT) communication technology and industrial chain. It is specifically tailored to the needs of control-related businesses in the power industry. EPDT technology has made comprehensive optimizations and improvements to PDT technical standards in terms of network architecture, modulation methods, communication protocols, and power business adaptation, achieving independent and controllable EPDT technology. The formulation of the EPDT narrowband communication standard is just the first step. In the future, EPDT quasi-broadband and broadband standards will be successively introduced to promote the development of power wireless private network systems towards higher efficiency, security, and reliability.
